Life at Sullivan Square means that you'll be able to live in a community dedicated to the healthier lifestyle of green living. That means an environment to better lives and sustain natural resources. Just 3% of all U.S. building projects are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, and Sullivan Square will be one of them.

Sustainable building will result in increased building efficiency and fiscal savings for Sullivan Square residents. Residents could realize a 25 to 30% reduction in energy bills and could recognize 25 to 35% tax abatement for up to 10 years on a portion of their property taxes.

Low-emitting materials will be specified for Sullivan Square which will reduce indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well being of installers and residents. Low-emitting materials include adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings, carpets and composite wood products.

Sullivan Square's solution to reducing the "heat island" effect is to have vegetated or garden roofs in combination with a white "cool" roof. Cool roofs reduce glare and heat, and vegetated roofs cool the air, channel rainwater and provide habitats for local wildlife.

Materials with a high recycled content will be incorporated in Sullivan Square to reduce the amount of virgin material used and the amount of generated solid waste.

Sullivan Square builders will haul 75% of the materials not used during construction to recycling centers instead of to overflowing landfills.

To encourage residents to recycle, Sullivan Square will provide convenient recycling storage and collection areas in all residential buildings.

Preferred parking will be provided for Sullivan Square residents who own low-emitting and fuel efficient vehicles.
