What makes it Green:
The owner brought in 60 loads of dirt, so the home is built on a small mound where the rain water will fall away. This property was designed and the foundation by Stitt Energy. Please visit www.stittenergy.com .
In forming the foundation, they set the footings with protruding rebar, then affix insulated concrete forms where concrete is then poured. The stay in place forms surround the concrete, hence an insulated and warmer floor. Exterior walls are 4" to 6" thick. The insulation is soy bean based foam. After the framing/roof/insulation, a blower door test is performed to locate any air leaks in the exterior walls before sheet rock is applied.
It features a 104 gallon Hot Water Heater in the basement. In the pictures, you will see a pond for the horses, however, there is also a re-circulating tube on the bottom on the pond where the water flows through the tube and back throughout the floors of the house. There are sky lights, one is remote to let hot air out during the summer. The home faces north/south.
